More specifically, 96% out of 200 published authors said a book impacted their practice “positively” or “extremely positively.”

Amazing. But not at all unexpected. Based on my experience, I believe a book is the number one thing independent professionals can do to attract more and better business.

Big benefit #1: Authority

First, a book can set you apart from everyone else in your field, establishing you as an authority. Did you know the words “author” and “authority” have the same root meaning?

For more than 3,000 years, books have been the carriers of knowledge from one generation to the next, and their authors (the synthesizers of that knowledge) have been the “go to” people throughout history.

So having a book is the ultimate symbol of expertise. If you are a book author, people instantly assume you are an authority. They will seek you out before contacting others who lack your status. And they won’t quibble over price. Those are big benefits in today’s economy.

Big benefit #2: Instant credibility

Second, a book increases your credibility instantly. In the 21st century, consumers are more skeptical than ever. More credibility means your prospects will be more likely to trust you and believe what you say. This is a huge advantage.

More credibility also means more business. For example, I teach dozens of simple tactics insiders use to attract clients with a book before it’s even written.

Big benefit #3: More revenue

Third, a book can increase your revenues quickly and dramatically. You don’t even have to wait until the book is done. Once you start writing, you can start bringing in more and better clients.

The dozens of specific tactics I teach cost virtually nothing and take almost no time to implement. When they are used, the people we work with report bringing in anywhere from $24,000 to $150,000 in new business just while writing the first draft of their book.

Fourth, a book becomes your ticket into an elite club of media gatekeepers that can give you highly credible exposure you could never afford to buy.

You see, there is a lucrative, symbiotic relationship between the trillion-dollar media industry (which needs fresh news every day) and book authors (who are the number one category of experts the media relies upon to get information for their readers, listeners, and viewers).

When compared to other marketing tactics, the resulting publicity you get from these media gatekeepers typically has much higher credibility, has a more extensive reach, and costs much less—it is essentially free. I read some statistics recently that said it is not uncommon to get five times as many prospects from one small article than from an entire direct mail campaign!

For example, one of our members used a one-page press release strategy about her book on my recommendation. It generated over $150,000 in new client business the first time out.

Big benefit #5: Selling without selling

Fifth, a book can be the lowest-key, yet most compelling sales letter there is for your higher-priced services, products, and programs. Most independent professionals love this since so many of them hate marketing. The book does all the heavy selling for them.

Case in point. I published a book titled Create the Business Breakthrough You Want. Now we are in the process of revising it. In just the first 27 months in print, this book produced $1,131,108 in extra revenue I would not have earned otherwise.

If you do the math, that means I pocketed an extra $41,892.89 every single month since the publication of my book. Some folks work exceptionally hard and barely make that kind of money in a single year. But the book made it easy. In fact, virtually all the business I’ve gotten since that book was published came from that book. 

Big benefit #6: Multiple streams of income

Sixth, leading professionals and entrepreneurs have discovered their book’s content can be recycled into more than 81 higher-priced information products and programs.

If you are an independent professional using the typical professional practice business model, you are selling your expertise as a service… putting it out one time (say, in a coaching session) and only getting paid one time (the fee for that session). To get paid again, you have to do another session.

Instead, if you want to thrive in the new economy, I recommend supplementing or replacing that model with an information business model. This is a system where you record your expertise once (in a medium such as a book), then recycle that content quickly and easily into up to 81 higher-priced information products and programs.

For example, Jay Conrad Levinson said someone asked him how much he made from his first Guerrilla Marketing book. Apparently, he told them $10 million dollars: only $35,000 from the book itself, but $9,965,000 from all the spin-off information products.

has nothing to do with money

This may come as a shock to you, so let me explain what I mean.

During this time, I kept meditating and praying to God to reveal more about what I was meant to do.

Then, around 1990, I began studying research by Paul Ray and Sheri Ruth Anderson on psychographic trends in the world. In 2000, they published The Cultural Creatives, a book that examines the lives of people who seek to integrate their values and vocation.

As I was reading, the authors pointed out that 90% of independent professionals are cultural creatives. Immediately, a light bulb went on for me. I realized that not only was I an independent professional but I was also a cultural creative! I thought, “These people are like me. I can focus on helping them!”

I believe each of us has something to contribute to the world—a unique gift. Each of us has a piece of the divine plan. As Deepak Chopra says, “The universe has no spare parts.”

The coach will guide you to program resources that can save you time, save you money and multiply your results.
